Have you gone out and bought a garment' at the time looked great on the hanger in the store ,
I did for xmas I got two tops ' both looked lovely on the hangers - I tried one on when I got home
and I hated it -looked gross on colour was all wrong and style on me ..what a waste of money I thought ,

So have you been really disappointed in a purchase -

I bought a dress online that looked beautiful. While the lines were nice, and the fit was good, it was the most hideous color in person~kind of a beige taupe. I thought about dying it another color. It was bought on sale and not worth the postage to send back. I couldn't stand to wear it and ended up giving it to a charity thrift store.
Since so many clothes for sale in thrift shops and consignment stores still have the tags on them, lots of people buy things that they later regret purchasing.

Special mirrors and lights to make rags look pretty.
Exactly that... this is the reason we look so much nicer/thinner in dressing room mirrors, and when we get home the lighting is different and the mirrors are ''real'' therefore the item looks completely different. I've done it many time, got home and looked and found the item looks awful....

Dr Melissa Kao, director of Magic Mirror, previously told the Daily Mail: ‘Shops sometimes employ tiny tricks to make you look as good as possible, which include tilting mirrors upwards. This elongates the look of the body.
‘The mirror may appear flat against the wall — but even a tilt of just a couple of millimetres can be enough to give a bit of extra length to the legs.’
Dr Kao also says mirrors may have slightly different tints, some of which will give the face a more healthy glow: ‘Shops often use a “ring flash” where strip lighting creates a halo effect — much like you’d see in those old-fashioned make-up mirrors set with bulbs.

'It gives a shadow-free reflection and an even complexion.'

I've never bought something and not liked it once I got it home maybe because I practically wear it out looking at it in the dressing room. What I have done more than once is buy something I absolutely loved but it was a bit tight and figured It would fit just fine in a couple of months once I lose a few pounds.

Who am I kidding? I've been 5 to 7 pounds over weight for the past 20 years!

I am sure I have. But when I make a purchase and its going home with me.. We have to have a love connection..LOL.
