Did you ever attend so called dance shows in your youth?

NO. That is a 1962 video before my time typical of that era's young adult dancing styles one might see on Saturday morning TV shows and Hollywood youth movies. Notice the semi-formal coat and tie dress style.

As a teenager and young adult, I quickly learned Caucasian females of my era absolutely hated dancing in public with short men as other gals would make embarrassing fun of them, so avoided doing so. By time I began freestyle rock dancing, it was the Counterculture Classic Rock era with its total cultural changes.

I'm not sure the poster means attending a taping of a show, or going to a dance at the school gym type of thing. As a teen I never missed Dick Clark's Bandstand, and went to some gym dances.
I'm confused too. I went to gym dances and battles of the bands where bands and dancers competed but it wasn't like a show as in shindig or hullabaloo or anything like that which would appear on tv. My stuff was just local local yokel if that counts.

Never enjoyed dancing with the exception of slow dances with my wife, and even those were not often. Similar to likes and dislikes that we all have, dancing was on my "dislike" list. Don't know why as I never had any uncomfortable situations arise when dancing. Just didn't like it.

My wife was a good dancer and enjoyed it. If we were at a reception or some such party, l always encouraged her to accept offers to dance and she would on occasion.

That is so cool ! Do you have a copy of that video?
No. This was back in the late 70’s early 80’s. I’ve got photos though, but I’m not interested in showing them. For one, I’m far too shy and two, a don’t have the consent from the other band members. We played at malls , show grand openings, for Veterans Day etc…

I have me playing saxophone in a thread somewhere on this site.
