Dietary Restrictions: When Would You Cheat?

My primary physician wants my cholesterol and blood pressure lowered. She has not suggested a restrictive diet, yet, because my weight is fine and dietary changes may alter how my pain medications behave when they reach my stomach.

I have looked at some of the special diets, online, and feel fairly fortunate. My fingers and toes are crossed as I hope I do not have to grapple with my daily menu. If I absolutely must alter my diet, I plan to build in some "cheats" to ease the sense of deprivation many feel when they must give up their favorite foods.

Do you have a special diet? If so, how often do you cheat?

I adore kefir, makes me feel good, its filling full of vitamins, especially calcium and B Group. You need to check out with doctor as I don't know if it will agree with your cholesterol

I love kefir also, and usually drink some every day. I get mine at Aldi's, where it is almost half the price of other supermarkets.
As for cheating on a diet, I think when you have to make a drastic change, and cut out foods you love, you need to reward yourself now and then, with a treat you enjoy, just not go overboard in eating it. Sometimes, just a bite or two will ease a craving for something.
I find if I am craving something, and don't eventually have a little, I am miserable and don't enjoy the rest of the food that I do eat, so it helps me to stay on track if I know it is not a forever thing, and I can occasionally have the taste I love to have.
