If life is bliss, would you be happy? Would it matter? Bliss seems like an altered state existence that few find an opportunity to attend. Happiness requires effort to achieve and maintain unlike bliss that requires an exit from reality to exist.
 

I always looked at bliss as being in a restful state because one is unaware of their entire situation, circumstances and impact of their predicament. Many of us, when we're very young, experience bliss. I agree with you in that happiness is something earned.
