Different kind of cards...

Do you 'do readings'?

Or

Have had a reading? How was it?

I am psychic and have had premonitions that came to pass but like I told my son...I don't need props. :D I had a reading done using tarot cards and I detected almost immediately that the woman was a fake, especially when she started talking about my father being out to get me and do this and that...and come back (I forgot if she asked for more money). The initial reading was $5.

A woman a few towns over was recommended to me decades ago. Her name was Helen. She was a teacher by day and she sang in her husband's band at night. My (future) husband and I were just getting together and I had some concerns. I was astonished at how accurately she read our relationship. First know that I never give information up front that a reader can glean from. She told me several things, not general things either, that were quite true. She used regular playing cards. I went to three more psychics (not counting the fake) over the years that were amazingly accurate, each by recommendations from friends. Turns out two of them were what the instructor of a metaphysical course my BFF, her good friend and I took in 1988, called "the real deal". She said they were the only ones she would ever recommend. I had already been to each of them a few years earlier.

In that metaphysical course which was for 8 weeks, I learned during the psychometry exercise that I have the ability to do psychometry readings (receiving psychic impressions by holding someone's object in the hand). Truthfully, I didn't even know what that was before the course. My first reading in the class was quite accurate on a lady I didn't know when I held her wedding ring. I did readings for free on co-workers after that. I was amazingly accurate about 80% of the time. Again...these were not generalizations.

I've had a couple of readings, and both were accurate and reasonably useful. Both times the person giving the reading was well recommended/trustworthy. The most interesting reading, in fact, was by my ex-BIL, who has been a good friend of ours for 50 yrs. One woman used a deck of playing cards; my ex-BIL doesn't use anything at all, just a visualization technique he learned.

Ex-BIL is a techie nerd by profession; he only took a class in doing readings because he was reeling from the divorce and wanted to ground himself to let go of his negative feelings. He and my sister had two young kids so it was important that they still be able to work together for the good of the kids. CA prefers shared custody if at all possible.

I became interested in doing tarot readings but don't like the popular Waite deck. I do like the Aleister Crowley deck and own that one. I rarely did readings and now only very occasionally do them for myself. I got a little freaked when I did a reading for a friend long ago and saw him breaking up with his wife. I only told him the two of them viewed the world a little differently, and about a year later when we saw him again, he mentioned they had gotten a divorce.

Giving someone bad news isn't much fun, so I decided if I was going to see unpleasant things, best I see them about myself!

Haven't done any readings with cards in a while.

Ever since I visited Sweden and got a Osteomancy set (Bone Throwing) it's been something fun to mess around with.
Since then, I've replaced the original set with items I've collected in my travels.
I keep the number of objects in the set to 10.

Usually only set it up on the two Solstices (Summer/Winter) to find out how the future might turn out.
(to find out what the three Ladies of Fate, Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos might have in store for me)

The Ten I use:

-The Self
-Health
-Wealth
-Family
-Bad/Evil intent
-Truth
-Fated
-Yes
-No
I recently added 'Magic' just to round things out.

TY, T Y, T Y..All..for your very interesting posts/responses.

Glad some liked this thread/topic.

Interesting reading about bone throwing, Feelslikefar. I was not aware it had a formal name. Thanks.

13th Warrior (Antonio BANDERAS, 1999) is one of my favorite movies. The bone-throwing scene in it really adds to the story.

I was in Washington, DC, away from home, in 1989 and had just been dumped by someone on New Year's Day after dating for months. I was young and devastated, so I went to someone who could read tarot cards. The only two things I remember is that she told me I had a very "dark" aura (no s**t). I also asked her to tell me how long I would live. She out and out told me I would live to 73 y/o, which has been on my mind ever since. I am now 65, so according to her I have 8 years. I honestly didn't think psychics or tarot card readers would know or would ever share this type of information.

My partner and I also went to separate tarot card readers in Taos many years ago, and we both left thinking they just fed off of any information we provided and were totally off base in their readings. I think my reader even thought I was straight based on her predictions, even though my partner was in the next room.

Don't get me wrong... I do believe that some people have this capability. I just haven't found the right one.
