Dine & Dashers help contribute to a San Francisco Denny's demise

This is something has been occurring here in the Uk over the last year or so.. people going in ordering expensive meals and drinks then leaving without paying. Most restaurants and bars have CCTV so the media prints the pictures of the dine and dashers and most have been caught because of that. One welsh couple had been doing it all around the country before being identified and imprisoned..

does dine and dash fall under the $900 shoplifting law? There does not seem to be a big difference to me. However, the people of California approved this law so they must go along with these activities.

I think Denny`s is pretty much at the end of their days anyway. Both of our local Denny`s,in Boise and Nampa,Idaho have closed in the past couple of months. I have the assignments for both of the stores to inspect.

Last week I inspected the Nampa store(thankfully Mr. R came with me)and when I went to unlock the front door,it was not locked. I wasn`t about to go inside a vacant store that wasn`t locked when it should have been-even with dh with me-but as it so happened there was a cop sitting at the back of the parking lot. I assumed he was monitoring traffic on the busy street.I asked dh if he would guy ask him if he would check out the building before we went in,but it turned out he had just gone through it.
The reason he was there was that the alarm had gone off and when he got there the door was unlocked. So he was waiting for them to call him with the code to the lockbox so he could get the key.We had the code so he was able to leave.

It was kind of funny though-while the three of us were standing at the door, two more cops showed up. Turned out he had called for backup when he saw us going to the front door. He thought we were the ones that had set off the alarm in the first place and were up to no good, lol.

Dh checked the location out online when we got home and turns out the property just sold. $1.8 million, they are tearing it down and putting up a Der Weinerschnitzel Lots of $$$ in hot dogs I guess.

Denny's was always a dump. The service was almost non-existent. You could turn gray waiting for your grand slam. Denny's made dine & dash so easy, because there was hardly anyone at the register.
I walked out of Denny's three times, because nobody came to seat us. After that why bother even going.
I agree with Mrs. Robinson, Denny's is at the end of their days. Poorly run and managed.

Seems like there are very few of us left who have disposable income to dine out anymore.

At my local Pub, a pint and an appetizer will set you back over $30.00 with a gratuity. It's madness...food prices I mean.

I recently paid $6 for a bit less than a pint of Guinness. I should have ordered two.

We were out for dinner last week. It wasn’t inexpensive. It was a big restaurant and it was packed. When we left, more were coming in. There were no parking spots left.

You know, there's no God given right that a business, any business, should just exist forever. Market trends, economic upheavals, and quality of management are all factors that businesses have to navigate. If they don't, they go under. A poorly run business that cannot adapt dies.
