Divertions over Settle-Carlisle Railway

With the West Coast Mainline closed at Penrith for a bridge replacement there have been diversions this week via the Settle-Carlisle route. The newish bi-mode 805 units are on the task. Seen here this afternoon going South (805002/010) and North (802005/007) at Ribblehead.

The Victorians certainly built some spectacular bridges and viaducts, like this one: TheOuse Valley Viaduct in Sussex built in 1838.
