DIY - Short Easy to Cut & Style Hair

Now here’s the cut I gave myself the other day. It’s not really a Bob in the literal sense but it’s short enough for me to manage. With it being so long it would get caught in car doors, zippers, buttons, other peoples buttons and zippers etc… lol so I’d wear it up in a bun or in a braid. While doing my yoga it was uncomfortable since there was always so bulk at the back of my head. Swimming in salt water I’d have to tie it up.

Plus I’m getting older now and want hair framing my face. I washed it today so it’s a bit on the frizzy side but I really like it. It’s thick and wavy curly

Now when I do yoga it just flows and bounces with me and is so much easier to look after.

I just got a hug icon 😞

I cut my own hair...what's left of it. And I always cut my kid's hair; 2 boys and a girl.

My sister has worn her hair long for decades, but it started seriously thinning a few years ago (due to chronic illness and medication) so she bought a wig. But she got so frustrated with the wig, she cried.

So I gave her a pixie cut. It looks really cute and she looks a lot younger. I used an electric barber razor with the 2" guide on the sides and back, and pro salon scissors on the top and front. She loves it.

Really short cuts need to be trimmed and cleaned up every few weeks, but that's no problem, I'll do it.

I used to cut my husbands hair with the clippers but now he shaves it down to the scalp in the shower every 2 to 3 days and it really suites him.

That was very sweet of you to cut your sisters hair. Women who go through cancer treatments, have auto immune disease , take meds or anything that causes major hair loss can be a big deal especially if they’ve had long hair all their life. What a great big brother you are.

Eventually I’d like to have what’s called a Bixie but would really need to study how it done a lot more before I approach that stage.
The cuts are super cute though.

Such a kind brother.

Yeah, the hair loss was really tearing her up. Getting great compliments on her haircut from her co-workers and customers lifted her spirits 100%.

No wigs, at least for now.

Ok. I have my courageous back.
I shall post 2 or 3 pics of my before & after hair.

Keep in mind. I’m a content married hermit who despises going to hair dressers. I dislike being touched.

I’m saying this since it’s one of the reasons I let my hair grow so long and why cutting it had to be something I could keep up on my own. This cut is shorter on the outside than the inside so is an angled Bob which I can do upkeep on. I’m going to pass on the Bixie cutting until much later when I’m more used to shears.

This is my before hair.

So thick and lush! You should be courageous.
Thank you. It was a big deal but now that’s it’s done, it’s no big deal. I like it. It’s far easier to look after and I wash it and wear it down almost everyday. I’m happy that’s it’s long enough that I can still make fancy buns with fancy hand carved forks and stuff. Yayyy. I did it. 👏lol

Patty, a new you. Love it. You did a great job. You must appreciate the weight lifted off your head.
Thank you. It’s WAY lighter. I didn’t quite realize how heavy that hair was until I chopped it off. My neck is thanking me.
I am really liking this cut also. I feel like a brand new me which is welcoming.

I think I look better with my hair much longer than it is now but have gone shorter (and wish I could go even shorter, I mean way shorter but Huzz would hate it) because: my hair is super frizzy and Huzz only likes stick-straight hair so I have to spend a long time with the dryer after each shampoo and my hair is super oily so I'm having to wash it frequently.

Also, when you have long hair, you'll want to get it out of the way once in a while, like put it in a ponytail or up, and if I put my hair in a ponytail or even just pin it back, I get a bad headache within about 1 minute. The doctor says it's because I spent all those years sitting at a desk and pounding a keyboard; he says that's one of the worst things in the world for your head, neck, shoulders, and back.
