Do you drive a sedan?

The last time I owned a sedan (saloon, UK) was in the 80's.

I've never owned an SUV. After my sedans, I then owned Fastbacks, usually 2 doors, 4 or 5 seats. Then I had liftbacks and hatchbacks.

At the moment I have 2 liftbacks. I also have a 2-seat, 2-door coupe, or as most people in the UK prefer to pronounce it, coupé. As the pronunciation of coupe seems to sound like something someone might keep chickens in.

I also have a Roadster.

Sedans are a civilized and competent ride, but demand for them has dropped, and some brands (like Lincoln) aren’t even making them anymore. People want SUV’s, and in my area, trucks are still popular despite the lower mileage…

Our Mercedes Sprinter van takes up more space than any SUV. The van has everything including the kitchen sink. It's the ideal vehicle when we go to festivals.

Our everyday car is a VW Golf, in Britspeak it's known as a hatchback and then there's a true, old fashion sedan, the 1947 MG. That's so old it still has those semaphore trafficators.
The original VW Beetle or Bug also had those semaphore trafficators.

I've always been a fan of sedans, but last summer my sedan was in the dealership for repairs and they loaned me a Mazda crossover for a few days. I'm not fond of that semi station wagon feel, but I fell in love with the car in spite of the fact that 80 percent of the population drives a crossover for reasons I don't understand. When I went back to get my sedan, I brought the title with me, and asked the sales manager if they would sell me that Mazda crossover.

He said it was not for sale, but he had others like it out in the lot. I said, "No, I want that car. I want to buy it today," but he said that's not their policy on loaners, and I went home. Two weeks later, the manager called me, and said, "Why don't you come in and we can talk about that Mazda crossover. I went down that afternoon and bought it on the spot.

I've got a Mazda Miata in my garage along with it. I loved that Miata, but this loaded crossover is a dream drive. I've driven the Miata maybe 200 miles in the last year. Any one looking for used Miata in tip top shape?

I drive a white SUV because I like to be different and stand out from the crowd. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Ain't that the truth. It's the one thing I don't like about my new car. I'm just like everyone else. I remember the days when car manufacturers went out of their way to come out with flashy designs, often in two colors. I could tell the difference between a Ford and a Chevy when I was five years old.

At least they had a safety setup for babies.

I drive this. Hyundai Tucson hybrid. It’s considered a compact SUV. I’m often hauling stuff for clients so there’s lots of room in the back. The back seats also fold down making even more room!

Plus when we go on road trips it’s a very comfortable ride, the gas mileage is great because it’s a hybrid, and there’s plenty of room for luggage.

I drove Sedans for many years and really thought I’d miss not having one, but I don’t, not even a little bit!

The word sedan sometimes gets confused with the word hardtop. A sedan has the post between the front and back windows while a hardtop has no posts, like a convertible. I wrote many citations and found out that proper ID of the vehicle is very important. When I wrote a citation it required make, model, year. For instance--1990 Chevrolet HT. Color was optional.

One other thing to add is the word "Coupe." This is usually meant a vehicle having only 2 doors. No one has ever beat a ticket from me because I failed to describe the vehicle properly, except if I should have written the wrong license plate, which never happened. When I wrote a citation, especially for excessive speeding, I mean like a vehicle going 95 in a 55 zone, I made sure everything was spot on.

Yep, you got them all. I had a drag car back in the 70's while in high school. I did very little of the work on the building of the engine. I had the engine done by a pro shop that beefed it up, balanced it and blueprinted the engine. The car was an eastern regional champion (AHRA) and when I have time, I will dig out a picture or two.

I like the 2-door coupe. These things were very versatile because there was plenty of room under the hood to put a big block engine without having to modify anything.
