Do you ever get sick and tired of the news hysteria?

I do. I mean, yeah, many things are quite serious topics and the public needs to be made aware of the seriousness. Agreed.

On the other hand, we've had eight Presidents die while in office, which is as bad as it gets I guess, and you know what? The nation kept on running.

Most people kept their jobs after those events, paid their bills on time, and their kids kept attending school. Maybe Washington D.C. was all a-kilter then, so they are on TV now yelling at us that they are all a-kilter! (which is beyond ironic because I can tell you for certain, when I have complained to MY representatives that This American Life is not treating me so great, or I can't find a job, or I can't afford the rent, or I can't afford a lawyer to help me right some wrongs, believe me, MY representatives don't give a darn about MY life being all a-kilter.)

Anyway, they are all upset now, so that's all the national news can dwell on: "Washington D.C. is UPSET! News at 11."

This is just one of those times when I cannot participate in imbibing much news media. It's gone way beyond what Cronkite or PBS would present and drifted into hysteria. I don't see how HYSTERIA is supposed to help or inform the American people.

The news is so negative and highlights terrible things I believe it has a real affect on people.
You cannot escape it even on social media. Remember when the news was a half hour at night with Walter or David and Chet.
Or the newspaper each day. Now we are immersed in it..........not good.

Much of the "news reporting" is carefully crafted to pump energy into the reality distortion field they've been holding people inside of. Occasionally some event can break through, revealing that the Emperor really isn't wearing any clothes. In a panic, under pressure, the media begin spinning tales of paths forward as they set off the flares and fireworks of hyped up disasters in order to distract.

Besides money -- always the #1 motive for frivolous stories -- the 24 hour news cycle makes it hard to come up with enough stories to fill the time.

The town I used to live in had a radio station which posted its news stories online. Just the facts, period. I used to read their news because it was so refreshing to read about what was happening with no drivel or commentary inserted into the story.

I feel your pain. I find myself getting angry when any newscaster uses adjectives to describe something. Let me decide for myself what is terrible or not. In the home I spend most of my time i watch very little news…it helps.
Even the local weather report where I live, is always describing the most natural and expected weather events as something stressful.

We should have a news network called Hysteria News Now! Every little stupid thing somebody says or does will be blown up as though the entire nation is taking part. Few if any good deeds will be reported. The negative will be emphasized even if something good happens, because the good was not perfect.

Oh wait…. Somebody already thought of that and put it into action in most newsrooms.

President Kennedy's infidelities during his 10-year marriage to First Lady Jackie Kennedy made more column inches in the world press than the assassination. The scandal mill went into overdrive, the salacious reporting, every sordid detail, it put me off the news then as a 17 year old teenager and that loathing has persisted throughout my life.

The code of conduct has set out the main principles of UK and Irish journalism since 1936.
These are the first four principles:
At all times upholds and defends the principle of media freedom, the right of freedom of expression and the right of the public to be informed.

Differentiates between fact and opinion.

Sure, the internet and the News are living on numbers and Adds.
Unfortunately they tell us what they want us to believe. If it was
good stuff the add wouldn't be necessary. Most of all its total
liars now in most all of the social media when it comes to the News.

Fact checking and the fact checking the fact checkers proves all of it's a lie.
It is the same with the Videos of constant crap going on. Total BS but fun to laugh at.
Heck the Forums are just B.S.

Taking it the next step proves all of its outrageous. Good night all.

I saw an interview with Simon Cowell. Surprisingly, he doesn't use a phone or engage in social media. He said that these days, if something important happens he'll know. We'll all know.
He's right.

I want only the news. Instead nowadays you get everything but. The news is about 10 minutes long and then there are all of these human interest stories thrown in. I don't care if someone wrote a book, or some kid is a little entrepreneur(not, it's his/her parents doing) or someone died whom I've never heard of and don't care, or my husband's favourite, on our BC Global news, they have the alcohol segment, boy, I bet that anchor person (who participates) enjoys that every Saturday. And then, the reporters find the most moronic people on the street to ask questions of, or they ask people whom you cannot understand because their accent is so thick. or they ask children!!!

Maybe I have a bad attitude. I don't mind the news at all. And if it gets boring or too much one way or the other I simply turn it off. What does actually bother me is when certain people I detest get covered on a segment.

Over all in the last couple of years (especially after my dad died.He was 95 and close to making 96) I've come to the conclusion that the generation that are us, the seniors--All of them) should stay more relaxed and let (well, MAKE) the youngsters take more initiative in making a world a better place. I like living but I have no problem with eventually leaving. We all have to take our turns.

I never turn my television on until 4 pm in the afternoon. Never listen to the radio at home, only listen to it in my car but only on a music station. When I'm in the supermarket i glance at the headlines in the morning paper and only buy the paper for the T.V. programme. Watching the evening news there is nothing but sadness about women and families in domestic violence, and people being robbed in shops and car-jackings
by delinquents.

I never really get sick of it. I think I have built up an immunity. Besides, it is nothing more than entertainment, like the crazy movies and television shows. It's hard to tell which is which, imho.
