Do you ever get your actors mixed up?

By that, I mean, do you ever associate an actor with one role so much that you have trouble seeing them in another role?

for instance, just watched an episode of Silk…. I’ve gotten used to seeing Rupert Penry-Jones in modern suits as a QC, but when in the same episode two actors show up taking parts in the drama and I associate them mainly with previous roles in adaptations of Jane Austen novels, it becomes quite surreal…. “ wait, Capt. Wentworth of “Persuasion” is defending George Wickham from “Pride and Prejudice” and the judge in the trial is Mr Darcy?! 🧐😄

ok I doubt many other minds run quite to that length of involvement in the stories (haha) but have you experienced this on a lesser scale?

Only when the actor is not very versatile & doesn't fit the other role.
After "Three's Company," I watched "Sling Blade." John Ritter was incredible in it - showing his incredible versatility.
On the other hand, I found Robin Williams great in funny movies, but not so great in dramas.

No, I don't pay much attention to the identity of actors.

I once sat next to OJ Simpson in a bar in Florida (before his Ex was murdered), even spoke with him a little. Had no idea who he was until after he left and the barmaid made a big fuss over it. Seemed like a nice guy, but my opinion on that has changed...
