Do you ever think about when you were a child?

I listened to a lot of music as a child. I had a phonograph and many 45 rpm discs. It seemed I listened to a lot of songs about lonely people and people being odd and so forth. It got me by tho.

Oh wow! Thanks, Guitarist! I just spent a couple of moments with my Pop. He was big on the "funny papers". I remember Barney Google and the song very well. I was 6 years old again for a couple of minutes.

It's good that you could go there. :) Sorta took me back, too, looking up the pic of Barney Google and Spark Plug, and remembering the song. That's the only line I remembered from it.

We had albums and racks of 78s, big and small. And never broke any ... but I think "someone" took a bite out of "Peter and the Wolf." lol

In grade school we had a music teacher come once a month. She would hand out little soft yellow covered music books. We would sing Reuben,Reuben, I've been thinking. And Row,Row,Row your Boat among others. She would then collect the books till the following month. Art was the same way, which was my favorite. I also remember a very high sliding board in the play ground. I wanted to slide down but was so afraid. Then one day I got up my nerve and climbed up the steps. No turning back now because there were several kids behind me. Down I went. I was so proud,I couldn't wait to get home and tell my Mom I did it! I went to the same grammar school that my Grandfather did. If you walked to the back of the school yard you could still see the out house that was used many years before.

We were poor kids and my brothers worked during a big snow fall one year pushing stuck cars and shoveling snow.
With the money they earned they bought a record player and one record, the Everly bros Bye Bye Love. We played that record over and over until my mom threatened us with life and limb. That was one of my good memories.
