Do you have a matching set of dishes and glasses ?

Did anyone else's mom collect the "Golden Wheat" dishes that came in Duz detergent back in the 1950's?

My mom had a few of those too. I didn't know where she got them.

Oh yeah! Went nuts with era appropriate decor when I bought my 1961 ranch 7 years ago. NUTS I tell ya! I have three complete dish sets; vintage Libbey glassware sets, and two full sets of (never used prior to my purchase) vintage flatware sets. Use all in rotating fashion. New here, so not sure how many pics I can add to a post. But here goes:

Formal set:

Everyday set:

Plus a set of Corelle Spring blossom dishes.

My favorite drinking glasses (Libbey) - have the whole set (juice, small and tall tumblers) plus the matching pitcher.

And the ones I love not to use because if one broke, I'd have to change my underwear.

What a great collection of mid-century dinnerware, Paige. Thanks.

I remember 3 sets growing up.

One set was white with pink apple blossoms around the edges.

Those were replaced with Harker pottery in dark teal green-

Finally we had another set but the above green were in use the longest.

I see these all the time in resale shops. I had no idea they were from Duz detergent! My mom had a complete set of Courier & Ives that was acquired via the gas station. Maybe you got xxx amount of pieces per gallons of gas. Not sure. Those were our holiday/company plates back from the 60s through the 70s.

I remember the wheat pattern. It was very popular. My Mom collected a gray and white pattern from a grocery store. I think it was the A&P. It was quite a modern pattern. Looked like splashes of gray paint splashed across a white background. It may have had a bit of red also I'm not sure. I think you got a piece every week or month. I think she was saving her receipts for that also. I remember her being quite upset because they stopped the offer and the only piece she was missing was the gravy boat.

Some of those dishes bring back memories ! I remember all the free one's we'd collect. My mother in law saved the free towels from some laundry soap ( can't remember which one ) and gave them to me - I Still have a few of them 45 years later .

Remember the dishes that the Jewel Tea man sold? I think they were called "Autumn Leaf"; you'd buy them a few pieces at a time until you had the complete set. Both my mother and my grandmother had them. You see them in antique shops all the time.

The Spousal Equivalent's mother had a huuuge set of them. He packed them up and brought them home when he was selling her house. We sold them to a dealer but didn't get bupkis for them, of course.

I have a set of three nesting bowls, similar to these.
