I not not have those worries here in Perth.
We are still safe when it comes to getting mugged or whatever else might happen.
Sure, the danger rises if one was to wander around the city late at night. As with most cities there are ne'er do wells and one has to be more clever than to wander late at night.
Apart from that, I have no trouble going outside of the city to my favourite places in the countryside, by a river, etc. Never have I come across any situation out there that has made me feel uncomfortable.
Avon River Western Australia is a favourite place of mine to go to get away from people and the rat race.

The funny part after my beautiful hotel stay, the next morning had to leave for the hospital in SF, decided to use a limousine instead of a nerve-racking taxi, the drive was ok except kept asking me personal questions. .
Thinking this person is lacking in tack, wanted to know what I was going in for, too shut him up my response was
" a sex change" it worked.
He learn to be careful about that and we laugh..
