Do You Have It Down Pat or Can You Improve?

They say "Necessity is the mother of invention". I periodically come up with new ways to do things and think...why didn't I think of this before?!! Do you do everything in the best way possible already or do you sometimes find ways to improve your methods?

I have very little down pat, probably daily chores I would consider down pat and after 49 years I think I've got the hubby figured out. Most times. lol
Cooking and gardening is always a learning experience for me.
There are always new methods to try and ways to simplify complicated tasks. Sometimes they work sometimes not but its fun finding out.

Hope to be learning till the moment i let go this life.
Some find comfort in being set in their ways, and i won't fault anyone for doing their things their way. Me, when i think of a better (which for me, often means simpler, less complex but still gets the job done way to do something)...that comforts me. It reassures me i have not become hidebound, stuck in a rut.

TRYIN to learn new things, but high tech still baffles me!
High tech isn't the answer to everything, tho knowing how and where to search online for info can get you almost any answer you need. Google, or DuckDuckGo which i use more often; Specialized sites like dictionaries, Historical/Biographical info sites, or IMDb for all things movie and TV can be very useful. YouTube however you access it has fun and info---their are all sorts of helpful video channels, and i frequent the science once a lot.

i've used computers since they took up whole rooms---they are tools when used properly.
Cell phones i am ambivalent about. When i'm meeting up with someone in another place they can be helpful, especially if either of us has car trouble or something. If DD thinks of something she needs from store when i'm out she can text a request for it. And promising to carry it turned on with me whenever i'm doing chores around my property is of comfort to grown children. i do turn mine OFF every night and usually only use it for calls/texts, because something about having so many entrance points into my life (email, websites i visit) all on one small hand held device that could be easily lost--bothers me so i limit how i use it. But i have something i'm waiting to hear about that will likely come via my GMail account, so i had to add it to my phone. i may very well abandon it once the matter is all resolved.

Years ago I had a tech "mind block", complete with the "I can't" attitude. A co-worker made some snide remarks about all us "I can't" guys while he fixed the office computer. That made me mad, and started my "I CAN" mind set. Before long, I was building computers. Of course, Google searches yield valuable information on...everything.

My son thinks I do things in odd ways. I do not think he realizes that I have been finding better ways to do things all of my life. The ones that work well I stick with until some better way comes along. Some times for some things it seems there is no better way. I agree with Chet. Better usually means easier. I learned back in the day not to say easier to the boss. Always say more efficient. Both words mean the same thing to me.
;)

If I figure out a new way of doing something...it's purely by accident.

And then I tell myself 'why didn't I think of that!' lol
Have to chuckle. I also chastise myself for not thinking of better way sooner.
But can't tell you how often people have said to me, 'That never occurred to me', when i showed them an easier way to do something or suggested an alternate way to look at some situation. Most often heard from my older sister (the one with Masters degree to my BA in psychology).
