Do you have many words you always spell wrong in the first instance?

Hate to blow my own horn, but I was spelling bee champion 7 years in a row at school. Won a trophy at age 8 for reading and writing at University level.

However, the blasted spell check correcter thing on laptop, android devices and others are giving my text multiple errors. I'm always having to check beforehand or edit my text after posting.

I especially dislike that it changes, constantly and annoyingly, IN for ON and vice versa. Argh! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

With spellcheck I have become lazy. I see what I’m typing is wrong and just expect it to be corrected automatically. Sometimes it chooses a different word and I don’t notice. That’s only an excuse that I can use sometimes.

Spelling, grammar, and vocabulary were always one of my stronger subjects since grade school. I wrote lots of documentation in my career often off loading that engineering task from English as a second language design engineers. In my 20s at times also played a lot of Scrabble. However my vocabulary has long since degenerated, especially over my 7 years of retirement now. Most of my computer spelling mistakes are due to USB wireless RF keyboard bandwidth issues missing occasional keystrokes or typing characters out of sequence as in seuqence.

recieve .......... see always
The mnemonic I before E, except after C will help you with Receive. But it will leave you with egg on your face with seize, height, weight, neighbour and albeit.

When the letter C starts the word yet has an S sound, I always struggle. Cirrhosis is a good example. And there are words that you just have to know, start with a silent letter, like Pseudo and Wrench. How foreigners ever manage to grasp English is just unbelievable.
