I may have mentioned this before, but I have a good friend who is a divorced lady in her early 70's. We used to work together. She lives in Seattle. She has the worst luck I've ever seen, from having her purse stolen from her shopping cart right before a business trip to having a bus hit her car while it was parked on the street.
She came to visit in Dallas some time ago and we visited the Holocaust Museum and Sixth Floor Museum. We parked in an adjacent garage. She used her credit card. When we returned, it would no longer work to open the door, and we couldn't access the garage. We called 911 and a fire truck came up with sirens blaring! They unlocked the door and we got out of the garage. She said it could only happen to her!
So, she just returned from a 3-month cruise and we were catching up. 2 months into the cruise, she was having lunch with friends in Costa Rica and a guy in the restaurant stole her friend's purse and stole her phone, credit cards and driver's license out of her purse. The police went to the apartment complex where the phones pinged but couldn't get in and just left.
She spent a month aboard the cruise without phone service and had to rely on her son to transfer money to the ship! Then she took a long flight home from Bali, was exhausted and when she arrived at the airport her car wouldn't start! She had to call AAA and later needed a new battery.
To top it all off, she got home and was doing laundry. All her whites came out red and she found a tube of lipstick that she had left in a pocket! Now she needs new clothes.
You really can't make this stuff up. I've never seen someone with worse luck. The good thing is that she has a sense of humor about it and we laugh about her "incidents". You have to laugh or you'd cry!
