Do you know what your birthstone is? Do you like it? Otherwise, what is your favorite gemstone?

Mine is Opal and I like it well enough, though I don't have any. I don't wear jewelry though, cept wedding rings, daith rings and ankle chain. If I did wear more jewelry, I'd probably choose something with an opal. Maybe. They're pretty.
 
Even the jewelers who make big money selling shiny rocks to women and men who buy them for women can't agree on mine: peridot ,sardonyx, carnelian, alexandrite and spinel are all listed. Just more marketing nonsense. I don't wear or buy jewelry.

Going by month, my traditional birthstone is opal and the "modern" birthstone is tourmaline. I'm a Scorpio, so that one is topaz.

I have a couple of opal rings, one of which has exactly 50 small opals in it (it's gaudy....I don't wear it). I have a smoky topaz ring...don't wear that one either. I've never had a tourmaline.

I vastly prefer diamonds and emeralds.....I was obviously born at the wrong time of the year....

We were planning to give our son a smoky topaz for his 30th birthday. He didn't like the pink one that was available on his 8th birthday and he chose a signet ring with his initial instead. He sadly passed away at just 26 years old from a rare cancer...
