We love to fish in the inland lakes here. Lots of blue gills ,perch and panfish. We went out a few times on Lake Michigan with our small boat .... boy, were those some rides ! I must say I turned a few shades of green . Hubby still ice fishes and goes on the Fox River for Walleyes. I haven't been able to go as much as I used to .... I get too overheated in the sun.I love it when hubby goes fishing -- I do love my fresh fish !

I guess it depends on your definition of 'fish' (verb). :playful: I would not use a fish hook that required bait. When I caught fish, I would not take it off the line. I could not eat a fish that I'd seen alive. And would never fish from anywhere but a dock or dry land. So, what I liked was casting out lines and reeling in fish. Needless to say, I didn't fish very often- my father took me once, a brother took me once, and I went a couple of times by myself.
Have caught sunfish, trout, and catfish. An interesting sport, but I guess I wasn't really cut out for it.

I always liked to go fishing, when I was a young girl my father used to bait my hook for me and take off my fish. He used to take us out in his small boat for some salt water fishing, fluke, flounder, bluefish, blowfish, snapper, etc. We'd go crabbing and claming too.

My husband and I have gone out on the big boats on the Oregon Coast and caught some rockfish and ling cod. We've fished in Canada and caught some big northern pike and walleyes, etc. Now we mostly do lake and river fishing, I don't fish that much anymore because we usually camp around rivers and streams, and I prefer lake fishing. We catch trout mostly, brookies and rainbow, etc. I clean and fry them up in butter, and my husband catches most of them.

Yes. There's a lot of fun casting a lure into the water, then slowly reeling it in to see what you caught, besides an old boot.

It's a lot like playing the lottery.

When I was a kid it was smelts, bullheads, perch and trout.

As a kid it was exciting to dip smelts or fish for bullheads at night.

In this area some of the small town volunteer fire departments and churches still have bullhead dinners in the spring.

These days I don't care much for fresh water fish but I do try to eat seafood, from the grocery store, a couple of times a week.

My first wife and I honeymooned at the California resort of Lake Isabella on the Kern River.

I tried fishing in several spots along the river, and after a long unproductive period, I became disgusted and yelled to my wife who was a little distance away:
"Watch this, Sandy", and I threw all my fishing gear into the river.

That was in 1969, the last time I ever threw a line into the water!

I enjoy fishing when the waitress brings a nice Cod or Salmon Filet to my table!

Many years ago a friend invited me to go gigging for flounder. Caught some fish but also nipped my friends foot with gig. Don't know why but he never asked me to go again.

Since I have this pond, I made myself learn to fly fish a long time ago, just to see if I could do it. Casting turned out to be more fun than catching fish. I don't care much for cleaning them after I catch them, and don't see the point if you don't eat them, so I haven't fished in a long time.

Oops, second part of your question: large mouth bass, bream, catfish, and crappies. Largest was only a 2 pound large mouth bass, on a fly.

I fished for Muskies for several years, and have a nice 42 incher mounted directly above my computer desk in my Man Cave. I sold my bass boat when we moved to the country, with the intention of getting a new one....but never have. Instead, I just go fishing with one of the Son-in-Laws on his boat every few weeks. We mostly fish for Walleye, and big Catfish.
