Do you mind being "followed" online?

Followed online - I am sure I don't know what you mean. I receive emails from stores that I subscribe to. There are ads on my iphone when I play a game otherwise I don't see any other ads.

I have ad blocker and use Duck Duck Go for my search engine, do not get any ads that relate to my searches.. (y)

Any webpage with social media icons ie: Facebook, etc. is tracking your computer. You do not need to be logged into FB, you do not need to click on the FB icon, it is still being tracked, recorded, and sold as info. FB has acknowledged that they are tracking every computer that lands on a page where their icon is shown.

Does that mean Google searches? I guess it doesn't matter since G is tracking everyone, too.

Cable companies are "probably" selling your history, too. My cable company has sold my name and address to charities and other companies. How do I know this? Shortly after moving here I started to get mail addressed to me in a particular style= the way I signed up for cable and to no other business. It's annoying. I didn't give permission to have my info sold. When I signed up for cable over the phone, no one asked if I give permission and none of my monthly cable bills divulge this info either.

I use AdBlockPlus and have been happy with it.

Multiple times a day I delete cookies. It doesn't matter though does it, once you go to a website they have recorded your info. Delete away, it only helps speed your computer a little, but doesn't protect us from privacy intrusion. I believe VPNs are the only way to have some anonymity online.

Smartphones and those home devices as Hollydolly mentioned also listen and track. I've turned the microphone off on my computer-several times- and it comes back on all by itself!
