Do you mind having Birthdays?

Before I married my wife, I never celebrated my birthday. But, now...…...each and every year we celebrate each others birthday. Some kind of gift and dinner out. I'll be 70 this coming June. Both, looking forward to it and not. (LOL)

I'm temporarily living at a Senior Home. Six of us were celebrating our "April" birthdays at a special Birthday table. We each got a little cake. It dawned on us that if we each got a cake with the number of candles on it for each year of our lives, there would be over 500 candles. One of my birthday-mates turned 100 on April 19.

Happy April birthday, Fuzzy. (I had one, too!) :birthday:

It's not so much that I mind having birthdays, it's that it's increasingly shocking to realize and accept how old I am (66). My brain still believes I'm in my 30s but that damned mirror in my bathroom insists otherwise.

They have monthly birthday parties at the senior complex where I live. Everyone living here is welcome to join in, for cake and refreshments, regardless of when their birthday is. It's a nice way to get to meet your 'neighbors'.

I don't mind having birthdays, but don't care for any fuss made about it... My last one (75) was a Surprise Party given by all my kids/grandkids. They came from around the country to join in.
Very nice, but I told them ... No More... until I turn 100.:D

Bonnie how wonderful that they all came! You are loved. I know what you mean about a "fuss", but still I bet you had a great time!

My lady has many many tiny jars of exotic jams and jellies
Keeps ‘em stored in the jelly cabinet I made her
Tries to slip one in on me at breakfast

Thing is, once at the age of ‘old’, you can say ‘hey, it’s my favorite, gimme, I don’t have that many days left

At least it worked this morn

Had strawberry jam on my cheese toast

I

LOVE

Strawberry jam

Wouldn’t mind if that was the onliest jam, ever.

And, hey, I may very well not have that many days left

Turned 70 a few days ago

I’m workin’ it

It’s a lemons to lemonade thing

The last birthday I looked forward to was my 65th. That's when I started both my Medicare and Social Security benefits. Nothing like getting a double shot of Mana from Washington. After that it's pretty much all downhill. But there is one thing I do like to do on my birthday. That's check and see how many famous people whose asses I have whooped at the game of staying alive in the past year. I have whooped the asses of many famous people such as Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Robert E. Lee, and Julius Dean, star running back for our High School football team.

I gotta tell ya, that last one was pretty special for me. Ya see I went out for football one year. But I only made it though the 20 spring practices. Coach tried to make me a pulling guard. And there was this one play where I was supposed to pull deep to the right and then lead the blocking for the running back, that was Julius Dean, around right end. Well every time we ran that play in practice I always ended up a step or two behind Dean. I just could not get there in time. He was too fast. So I just gave up and never came back when practice resumed in the fall. But at the last reunion I learned that Julius Dean had died of a heart attack in 2012. So I finally got ahead of him.

Today it's my birthday again. I'm now 72.

Let's see whose asses I whooped this year.

William Tecumseh Sherman - Whooped his ass.

George Carlin - I love ya buddy, but I got ya beat.

Grover Cleveland - Whooped his ass.

Jackie Gleason - Beat ya fat boy.

Johnny Cash - Love ya guy, but I beat ya anyway.

Tennessee Williams = Beat him

George C. Scott - whooped him too!
