Do you put anything IN your Jello?

Was just discussing Jello with a friend. I remember at holidays my mom would make black cherry jello. Then would chop up walnuts and softened up cream cheese, Make them into little balls...a bit smaller than a marble and mix them into the Jello when it was a bout half way set..so they would be floating in it. Tasted pretty good. She would yell and me and my dad for snacking on the little balls before she could mi them in
 

My mother would make a lime jello mold with pineapple and shredded carrots. I hated that thing. Somebody always made it for church suppers and I'm make a big detour around it.

I make a sort of pie of a mixture of black cherry jello made with half the water and then, when cooled, mixed with a tub of Kool Whip. Then you pour it in a graham cracker crust and refrigerate til set. Pure trailer park trash cookin' but there's never a speck left when I take it to a party. It's one of those "guilty pleasures". It's sweet and cold and creamy. The hell with the calories and the red dye # whatzit.
 
Jello contains pork (the actual gelatin), so I no longer eat it. I bought halal gelatin a long time ago and wound up not making it. Halal means Muslim approved. We can also eat foods labeled Kosher.
