I was with Murrmurr- guessing the Bates hotel but then I thought it might be the hotel in "The Shining."
But that hotel as just an inspiration to the movie's director

Yes, it’s Schitt’s Creek. I’d originally written a longer description that I had to remove. It’s storming here in Ontario cottage country and the wifi was really temperamental. People were having parties in the parking lot. One day there were two ladies from the US who came with suitcases and clothing to make it look like they were checking in. All kinds of crazy stories.
