Anybody ever see his brother George?
I also remember him on TV. I wondered why he "talked funny", but I liked watching him.
Thanks, RR. Living in Hollywood and LA for so long has provided a number of unexpected celebrity sightings over the years, but this was one of my top five, for sure.
I met Richard Simmons (was on a panel on one of his talk shows about 25 years ago - very vivacious guy!) and Chuck Woolery (I was on Wheel of Fortune).
Erik Estrada came to my house circa 1990. Talk about a stunningly handsome man - and an incredibly nice guy! Also met Ernie Hudson and his family - another truly nice person and lovely family.
In the mid-90s I saw saw Sean Connery and Sidney Poitier dining with their wives. Coulen't tell you a thing about the women but both men were gorgeous! I nearly vaulted over my table to get to Mr. 007 but allowed discretion to be the better part of valor.
Saw Sally Fields in a different restaurant around 2000. She was exactly as adorable as you might expect. Another time I saw Shirley MacLaine eating dinner with Howie Long (the football player-turned-announcer) they appeared to be quite good friends and were deep in laughter and conversation.
Saw Loni Anderson lunching with a group of her friends one time. She was dressed and made up exactly like she looked on WKRP plus she had on a huge cartwheel hat. You couldn't miss her if you tried.
I chatted for a moment in a liquor store with Richard Thomas (John-Boy Walton).
My kids went to school with Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Armie Hammer, and some lesser known actors. Over the years we've also gotten to know some Olympic gold medal athletes and a couple of NBA players.
That's all I can bring to mind at the moment but am sure there have been others.
RR - So Sean Connery is our one (or is it two) degrees of separation. Sean Connery! Whoda thunk it?
Just remembered about ten years ago I had a few very long conversations with a charming woman named Annie Hall. Loved her name and her personality. After we'd chatted for quite some time - perhaps an hour - I asked her what brought her from Chicago to LA. She said, "Well, my son Arsenio moved out here for business..." My brain froze for a moment. Her son, Arsenio, as in Arsenio Hall? Yes. That Arsenio. I could see where he got his personality.![]()
Another time a woman was writing me a check (business) and I noticed the names on the check. Hers and Dwayne Hickman's. I asked her if it was that Dwayne Hickman and she smiled a bit and said, "Yes. It's true. I'm married to Dobie Gillis!" We both laughed. I met her and his son but Dobie wasn't there that day. Again, charming woman, charming son.
Liberace with his brother, George. George played the violin and sometimes appeared on the show. I have several vinyl LP albums of Liberace piano music.
