Do you still cook?

Yes! Tonight, as it is St Andrews Day (Happy Day to all my Scots!), I've cut (with daughter's help - she took care of turnip) the sweet potatoes. Made mashed potatoes with onions and cheese, plus two cans of Grants Haggis.

For dessert, it's homemade lattice apple pie served warm with whipped sweet cream. A wee dram of Scotch in honour of St Andrew. Slangevar!

Those aren't an option when you rent and I don't know why my village is stuck in an era via 1950 of hard water.

These days city water - by which I mean anything from village on up that gives you municipal tap water instead of having to rely on well water which is only something rural people have to do nowadays - is usually softened at the water treatment plant. And, no, I so do not want to know how else they have to clean the water. Note, I buy bottled water. And try not to think of how that doesn't help in the shower or washing the dishes.

I think my village still draws the water from the river we're situated on. If so, they'd best clean it.
 

My #1 cooked item is biscuits that I learned to do correctly, then chili and a few others I just had half of a frozen roast beef sandwich that was very good, VERY GOOD! So tasty I am thinking of going after more of them...
I clean as I cook so when finished all I have is maybe 1 plate and 1 glass left to wash and put up...

I got this habit from my dad. I always consider the cleanup when thinking what to fix and lay all I need out 1st, sometimes change my mind as to the cleanup needed. My biscuits take more cleanup due to the items needed to make them but I like them so much I just do it.
