Do you think "fur babies" is over doing it?

I love animals but I value human beings over them. I don’t own any pets because that is a responsibility and I don’t want to have to limit my comings and goings in life to care for them. Others don’t mind. To each his or her own.

I've never minded calling my pets fur kids when it became popular to do so. Besides, when I'm in a good mood like I am today, I don't get bent out of shape by words at all. I'm able to keep it in perspective.

I'm ok with the term fur babies - we all know what it means and it doesn't bother me. Just a cute little term

Does it matter if you do right by them? One time I had a cat at the vet and the vet's assistant came out to the waiting area and said to me, "Are you Adam's parent?" I said, "No, I'm Adam's owner." Giving human attributes to real pets is what I object to.

Why not? They're a lot more human than most people I know.

A long time ago I came across an on line conversation where people were talking for their pets in childish language. It might have been a forum. I can't remember. It was like " Mommy took me for a walkies today" or "Daddy made me get off the couch". That kind of made me cringe.

But, let's face it. There are a lot more serious things to get up tight about and it's harmless. If baby talk makes you happy, who am I to complain?

WE just listened to Meatloaf's, "By The Dashboard Light". Hadn't heard that in awhile. He was quite a character but passed away at 55, I think. Sort of sad.

As long as a pet is well cared for and loved it doesn’t matter what people call them. Dogs provide unconditional love and support. They sense our moods and comfort us when sad.

. I am grateful to be able to share my life with my babies. Of course people are more important and I don’t think anyone disputes that.

I’m perfectly ok with the term fur babies. We didn’t have any children so all our pets became spoiled members of our family and I refuse to apologize for it. How we treat our pets is none of anyone else’s business. Note: We aren’t hurting any of them or anyone in the process.

We used to have pet cats and dogs. Now, we have "fur babies". Cats used just have a litter box; now, cats have to have multi-story hangout trees. Dogs used to get dry dog food, now, dogs have to have gourmet, refrigerated then warmed, super nutritional meals.

Izzi looks totally puzzled when company gushes over her in baby talk. Response is generally a swoosh of her tail and walking off. It must be the high pitch.

I remember when the term catloaf was getting thrown around. I didn't know what people meant, until I was just sitting here staring at my cat one day while he sort of laid on his tummy with his legs all tucked in, and it dawned on me.
