Do you use a soft rubber mat on the floor by the working area of your kitchen?

I've been thinking of getting a mat for my kitchen for a long time.
I spend a lot of time by the sink and work area and am wondering if having one would relieve some of the aches I have in my legs.

I put this off because I figured it would be one more thing I have to pick up and keep clean before I wash my kitchen floor.
My son put one in our workroom downstairs so today I decided to bring it upstairs and give it a try. It wasn't very soft but wasn't meant for the kitchen, that could be the reason.

The second thing I noticed is that it slides. We have ceramic tile which maybe causing that.

Do you have a mat? Do you notice a difference when standing on it for long periods of time? If you have one has it lasted or did it crack?

It sounds like a very good idea, and seems like it's worth a try because it might help legs, but I have no experience with one.

As you mentioned, you wouldn't want anything that slides. That adds more risks than the possible benefits.

hi ruth I got mine by the sink --non slip better on the legs and feet ' I have stone tiled floor solid and cold ,
so look or ask for non slip -

I have one in front of my work bench in the garage and it does make a difference. When I am working on something, I tend to stand in the same place for extended periods of time so it is probably even more effective there than in the kitchen. My wife would veto having one in the kitchen because they are kind of ugly.

The good ones are fairly heavy so they don't slide around, but they would pose a problem when you try to mop. They are also close to a 1/2 inch thick and would constitute a trip hazard if you are moving around much.

I wouldn't use one. The risk is not worth it. Even if it never slides, these soft mats are rather thick & the raised area increases the risk of tripping & falling.
