I've used senior or military discounts @ Home Depot, some restaurants, Lowes & Consumer Cellular (the AARP discount pays for my annual membership fees). I also carry my DD214 & AARP card just in case. @ a motel one time i didn't have my card & the clerk said, ' If you're willing to admit it, I'm willing to give it to you'.

@hollydolly AARP stands for American Association of Retired Persons.
"It is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that advocates for the well-being of people aged 50 and over, offering membership benefits, discounts, and resources, and working to improve the lives of older Americans."
"AARP advocates for issues that matter to older people, such as healthcare, financial security, and retirement planning, at the local, state, and national levels."
They offer discounts on travel, dining, entertainment, and insurance. They also publish a magazine with interesting articles.

wow... I wish we had that here....

List in post #1 is outdated...

I can't check them all but I just checked on the first three listed

RESTAURANTS:
Applebee's: 15% off w/Golden Apple Card (60+)
Arby's: 10% off (55 +)
Ben & Jerry's: 10% off (60+)

Applebee's no longer offers a Golden Apple card. (The most I ever got with my card was 10% off the entree only.)
Arby's - a senior discount is not company policy, but you can get discounts with their rewards program
Ben and Jerry's - anyone who signs up get 10% off with their Flavor Fanatics program

Oh, and having flown with them... Alaska does NOT give seniors 50% off!

@hollydolly I like it, even if I forget to use the discounts! The magazine has quite a lot of information that keeps seniors up-to-date on different matters. Their website is very detailed and informative.

Hollydolly, I was a member at AARP website for 5 yrs at first I enjoyed it but grew tired of it. There were a lot of unhappy, nasty people there. I soon cancelled everything associated with org. The only discount I ever used was at Walgreens{ U.S. national drug store chain} Then I found SF in 2017,such a refreshing website, my happy place Sue

Belonging opens you up to more junk mail. Especially their weekly insurance endorsements.
I never encountered that problem with them.
I just don't have a lot of use of the organization at this point in life and do not intend to renew my membership once this one expires. We have been members for at least 19 years.

I would quit but as long as their discount is active I save a little on my wireless.

The only place I have ever been offered a discount is Wendy's. I know Southwest Airlines and Best Western have senior discounts listed on their websites. Maybe I should start asking.

I havent checked any of them. :D I dont go anyplace or do anything or buy anything except for food. Im very boring. :D

Just thought that those that are pinching pennies could probably use a few discounts.
It doesnt cost anything to ask. Does anybody have any discounts to share?

i have never taken advantage of them because i don't want to admit i am old. sometimes a shop will automatically assume i quality and just take the percentage off, and that's ok too. I don't shop at a specific location to get a discount.

As some have posted, I thank them for the discount if they offer it to me, but I don't ask for it. I have a hang up about it.
