Do You Wear Hearing Aids?

Are your hearing aids equipped with a T Coil? Do you know what a T Coil is? Do you know about INDUCTION LOOPING?

I have bi lateral hearing aids and know about T Coils and Induction Looping but have recently discovered that many people wearing hearing aids do not, which is sadly unfortunate.Because of this I have decided to be a active advocate for the Deaf & Hearing Impaired. FYI T Coils and Inductive Looping are part of the ALD (Assisted Listening Devices). There are 85 million people with some degree of hearing loss in the U.S.I will be taking my first class on learning to SIGN on April 5th and hope that my hearing does not continue to the point that I am totally dependent on signing for communication.

Does tinnitus count as any degree of hearing 'loss'? My husband has that and sometimes he needs the tv turned up a little louder than I'm comfortable with. But maybe tinnitus is considered differently than as a loss. As the resident expert, how say ye?

Yes Deb, Tinnitus is definitely included as a hearing loss condition and can be most debilitating and irksome for many. I would encourage your husband to find a good AUDIOLOGIST and be tested as well as a MD ENT. Did your husband serve any time in the military?
