I write a diary everyday with the UK and World news and also the newspaper headlines. I have been doing this for the last 6 years and boy is it interesting to read what various Governments said they would do and what they really have done. Also reflecting on changes in world concerns and what seems important in one year seems to have disappeared from media attention the next. I also have other little notebooks with various bible quotes and/or uplifting quotes from various philosophers etc. There are other notebooks for various 'things'. I just love all kinds of notebooks and journals.

Since 1986 I have been buying the Big Grid Calendars and I write small, use abbreviations and code symbols and have kept a pretty complete diary in shorthand on those. I had really detailed diaries prior to meeting my husband, but I threw those away as I didn't want him reading it. I wouldn't want my son reading it either. Too torrid!

I use Day One journaling app for Mac as it prompts me for an entry twice a day (one AM and one PM). Without it reminding me, I would go days, weeks, or longer without making an entry, this I know from pre-Day One experience. Don...

I used to during my working years. I often reflect back and some of the stuff I wrote sounds like a comedy. I kind of kept one during high school, but only when I either remembered to write in it or if something significant happened.

I've written in journals for very short periods of time over the years but haven't done it in a long time.

I find that writing in a journal feels very unnatural to me. However I've gotten what I've heard other people describe they get out of writing in a journal by writing to internet pen pals. There have been some periods in my life when I have wonderful correspondence relationships with various people around the globe. Doing so has really helped me get through some difficult times in my life. Unfortunately the correspondence has always eventually fallen by the wayside for a number of reasons.

I find that correspondence with someone else and reacting to what's going on in their helps me realize what's going on in my life. Also writing about things often opens me up to self examination that helps me learn more about myself and uncovers things I hadn't noticed before.

I've been looking for pen pals but none has really panned out into a regular back and forth that's gone down the road of introspection and exploration.

My late mother kept a yearly journal of top new stories in U.S. and around the world, books she had read, family related things.I've kept the tradition going
I started my yearly journals in 1987,I have the top 10 news stories, sports, list of well known people who have died.I include how many books I've read, how many times I finished daily NYT crossword puzzle, how the stock market did,if I visited my brother&family, outings with my 'Bflo Family'
I have a 'retirement journal' I started in 2011,don't write in it every day
In March, started a 'cornavirus journal',when WNY got its 1st case, how many cases/deaths we've had since then, how the virus has effected our community, which stores closed now reopened, restaurants with take out only. The 'new normal' wearing masks, social distancing.I don't write in it every day, usually 1-2 times/wk

I have written in my journals for years. I go back over my older ones from time to time. When I moved here in 2018 my journal is what kept me motivated to follow through. I write a blog also and many of my friends noticed how sad some of my posts seemed. So when in the process of leaving my life (and husband) behind, I kept reading what I had written and how miserable I was. It kept me motivated to leave. Now living here with my computer on all the time, I can write my journal in a document so it is available anytime. My hands cannot write for long periods as I used to. I think writing my feelings has been a positive thing for me. I write everything in it, my plans, what I cooked or where I went or what my son or rabbit did, etc. It is an important part of my life. I may not write daily, but I write often. If I am angry about someone or something, writing it out will dissolve any anger I had. It helps me avoid those situations next time.

No

My wife is the diarist

I've started a couple
Ended up jotting down 'see yesterday' for several days

Better things to do

Writing books

Writing/creating funnies

...doing stuff my wife writes about

Funny thing;
My wife and I sometimes read her diaries
......neither one of us can read her writing

Yes, I've written journals for years. When I read entries during dark days of my life, I am grateful to where I am now where I am more confident of who I am. I enforce my boundaries to protect me. I'm still a work in progress, I love my life.

Sometimes I do but haven't written much lately and I used to keep one many years ago and a good deal of it was for venting.

I've kept one since 1980. I started then because I went so many places I was starting to get confused where I had been when. I’m glad I kept it up as now it helps me to know what I was doing a day or two ago.
