Do your insurance companies call you wanting to review for policy, etc.?

Do you get calls from your insurance companies wanting to "review your policy" or so they say so they can make sure you are receiving the best service? For several years now, my homeowner's insurance company was calling for this reason. I told them then there had been no changes so I was satisfied with what I have. Apparently that wasn't good enough because now they are sending it in the mail. To top that off, my health insurance company keeps calling me leaving messages that if I have any questions or changes, to please let them know. Each time they call, I block their number and then they call using a new number. I don't answer because how can I be sure it's them with all the scammers and spoofing of numbers today. If it's really them, they should know better than to do this today with all that goes on with scammers. If I have any questions, changes, etc., I will call my agent! It is just getting old and getting close to harassment!

I get a postcard each year from my homeowner's /car insurance to call and review. I think you're right-you call them. As far as your health insurance--I would take the time to call them and ask them if that is their policy to call like that then ask them what they need to know. That way if it is fraud they will be made aware. Tell them to drop a card to you next time and you will call them. You have every right to be suspicious, I would be too!

Go through your agent! I also do not trust anyone that calls. We get too many bogus calls here that I do not even answer. Oh, and we got a a call last week where they left a message that we were being sued by the IRS (strong accent) and we needed to contact them! Oh my goodness, this is the biggest scam out there!

Maggie, I was getting those calls for a long time and they say they'll be out to my house--that's the msg they leave, still waiting! I never answer those calls but at first, it was a little a little upsetting.

The vast majority of these kinds of calls are Spam, coming from Hackers trying to get you to divulge some personal information...SS#, etc. If you have Caller ID, you can look their number up on Reverse Phone Lookup, and you will probably find that the call is coming from a VOIP phone (cell phone), and White Pages lists it as a Spam phone number. Legitimate insurance companies will usually send a note in the mail, and suggest that you call the company or your agent for any potential changes to your policy. At any rate, Do Not carry on a conversation with anyone on such a call....if you feel that you might want to talk to them, tell them you are busy, and ask them to leave their number so you can call them back in an hour....that will probably suffice to get rid of them.

Nope they just take my money and run. I got only one call from a nurse that worked for my health insurance company after I fractured my neck. She was asking if I needed home health care helper.

I never answer these calls either. If they leave a message, I don't call them back because I know they're just trying to sell more insurance if it's really them. As I stated in my original post, if I have any questions or want to make any changes, I will call my agent. I just add the last number that called to my block list.

I went a couple of years ago when I got a call like that from my agent. He saved me a lot of money on car insurance, finding things I hadn't noticed, like my father was still listed as a driver, long after he was unable to drive. His age made a difference. He also pointed out that the vehicle was really too old at that point to justify total replacement coverage. He was very honest with me.

I realize this thread is about insurance company calls, but for spam calls, even without caller ID, you can Google the number. Many companies wil block their name so you don't know who is calling.

When you search, many sites will pop up for companies such as Who Called Me? They're all about the same. You don't have join anything, register, or input any personal information. Just scroll through the other responses to find out who it is.

For me, 9 times out of 10, it's Time Warner Cable, so I block the number on my phone. On an iPhone it's just a couple clicks to do that. Each time they called it would be a different number. I recently switched phone plans and had to get a new number. Guess which company I'm not updating my number with ...

We meet with our State Farm agent once every two years or so to review our auto and homeowner coverage. We have one life insurance company that used to call us wanting to sell more life insurance as "an investment". We finally got him and his staff to quit calling. We would have left that company had it not been for really old policies that we could no longer purchase on the open market. They have our long-term-care policies also. We purchased them long ago and their is no lifetime limit on long-term care. That is almost impossible to find, today, at reasonable cost.

State Farm, who has our auto and homeowner insurance also has a bank. A couple years ago, we opened a savings account with the State Farm Bank and deposited enough to cover our home/auto deductibles. That way, if we have a catastrophic loss, the money is there to cover out-of-pocket expenses. Doesn't earn much. But, our "plan" is to make sure we limit the "surprises" as we move more towards the fixed income state.
