Doctor and I shared a good laugh

I've been seeing my primary care physician over 30 yrs. I like him, but he's not a laughy-jokey kinda guy - which is fine.

The other day I went in for my 6 mo. check up. After reviewing my lab work, we talked a couple minutes. I lost 20 lbs a few yrs ago and have kept it off. As I told him I don't diet, I eat whatever I want, but I eat LESS than I used to. I piece of pizza, only as many potato chips or popcorn as I can fit into one cupped hand, 1 cup ice cream, I slice of bread.

Then I confessed...I quit smoking about 4 yrs ago, but for some reason...I don't know why... I backslid a couple months ago. Bought a pack of cigarettes, smoked a few...they tasted terrible.....I coughed, gagged, spit up phlegm, and found it harder to breathe. So I took a pair of scissors, cut up the remaining cigarettes into little pieces, and threw them into the trash.

My doctor, a good listener, looked at me then pretended to write something down.

He said: "I'm making a note for my staff to contact the major media outlets. News bulletin - 1) If you eat less, you lose weight, and 2) smoking is bad for you. STOP THE PRESSES!!"

Imagine that! :lofl:

We both had a good laugh.
