Does anybody else read things wrong?

So what was the correct reading of what you first thought said 'National Cremation Day'?

While skim and fast reading can cause misreadings there eye disorders that can cause them for same reason-- our brains will fill in blanks.

Also, just as we can 'misspeak' with Freudian Slips, we can misread and mishear due a mood, state of mind or biases we may have.
 
During K12 schooling, I made a point of understanding why it was important to correctly understand most of what I read. Not only the informational content but also picking up on any attitude, emotional, or cultural intent and nuances. The more often one immerses themselves in the complexities of human languages, the better one is likely to correctly understand and take command of what one does with it. So over decades in my adult world, I've made a point of filling what goes into my head with correct language constructs and avoiding what I don't.

At an extreme, I'll read difficult to understand technical and or science documents over and over and over increasingly trying to understand whatever. In electronic hardware and computer software are many many structures with vast complexities and many vague narrowly defined technical terms, one constantly requires a glossary to make sense of. So yeah "read things wrong", are you kidding! Of course I realize what the casual intent of your thread probably more narrowly was meant to address. Reading things wrong during common conversation or even posts of others on Internet web communities.
 
Yes, I do. On the plus side it's helped me develop a sense of humor about myself that I never had before.
