Does anyone have experience ordering their medications out of country?

Example: Symbicort....an inhalant to treat COPD. Here, it's cost is, with my insurance, 3 units for $135.00.
If I order from a Canadian firm, it costs $72.00. A generic of course.

Several other meds, I have noticed, are much less expensive out of USA.

Just looking for anyone's opinion about this. I've heard both pros and cons.

I might add that my wife has ordered Lipitor from Canada for years with no problems.

I used to order several meds from a Canadian Pharmacy. Over the years some of the drugs arrived from Canada, some from Israel and one other country I can't recall. All were fine and definitely cheaper than US.

Yes, Pappy. I ordered Symbicort, as well as Budesonide, one of it's components, I think, and Ciprofloxacin, and Bactrim, antibiotics. Most were shipped from the factory in India. Sealed, foil, packages, correctly identified, performed exactly as expected.

There is a problem doing this. Many credit card issuers will not authorize an out-of-country purchase request, unless notified to do so in advance by the cardholder. Once, the issuer called me, asking for confirmation, I gave it verbally, deal went through.

First time, my wife expressed extreme distaste for even the idea. She has since softened her tone a bit. imp

We used to buy meds in Mexico when we lived in Arizona. One that I remember was $115 at Walgreen's and was $13 in Algodones.

Algodones is just west of Yuma, Southwestern most corner of AZ. I bought my B.P. med there for $0.06 per tablet, $0.04 in Phoenix.

And, aside from the point, that med almost killed me! Not for being wrong, but my own damn fault for forgetting to take it. imp

There are too numerous "Canadian Drug Pharmacy" websites to list. They have resorted to implementing augmenters of "worms" and viruses to discredit one another. Unbelievable!

One of our Son-in-laws parents spend their Winters in Southern Texas. They stock up on a years supply of their drugs in Mexico, and claim to pay less than half of what the same stuff costs here. They've been doing this for several years, and so far the Mexican drugs haven't been any more harmful than the U.S. stuff.

With the United States coming in at 42 out of 250 countries in life expectancy and 'world economy' factored in, along with companies looking to produce their product as economically as they can with cheaper labor in other countries. What percentage of prescriptions do you figure you buy are made and packaged in the US. Very few if any. We Americans seem to base everything on price, higher price equals better quality. I used to buy only Dewalt tools because of the quality but now they are owned and produced outside of the US, only the name is the same.

Canada came in at number 14.
