Does anyone have Parakeets?

I don't have any birds at home but I am a pet sitter and have clients that have birds. The birds that are free to fly around ALWAYS go back in their cage. It's their safe place. Their home. They are also much happier and friendly birds. As I said before you got a lot of good advice here.

One of my clients has a large glass door going out to her patio. She has soft, thick curtains on the doors so the birds won't fly into the glass.

Another one has an African Gray that has a better vocabulary than some people I know. lol. She speaks crystal clear. If I ask her what she's doing she'll say, "I'm looking at the wild birds. What are you doing?" She's so much fun. So friendly. So beautiful. I'm so glad I started doing this when I retired from the phone company.

Shortly after I got an apartment due to my divorce, a friend moved into an apartment due to her divorce. Her apartment wouldn't allow her to bring her 2 parakeets, so I fostered them for a while.
I tried letting them out of the cage, but my dog wouldn't let them land anywhere except my head.
They never had eggs for however long she had them, but they did with me. I figured out it was because my apt was fairly dark except in the evening. The first egg didn't hatch. I put in nesting material and a small box. The next 3 eggs hatched.
I taught the male to whistle the song from Andy Griffith/Mayberry. Well, I taught them both, but he learned it.
They kept having chicks after she took them back when she got a different apartment.
