Does anyone know what happens when the caller that is obviously a scammer says dial 9 for what ever or dial 1 to opt out.


I don't dial either and hang up & block that number. I am curious though what happens if the number 9 or 1 is dialed.

I have heard that when you hit the "opt out" button, the system simply confirms that your number is active, and then your number is passed on to scores of other sucker lists so you'll get even more scam calls. Never hit any buttons. Just hang up.

If you press 9, you immediately get a human
speaking with you.

I did it and told the person to remove my
number from their system.

They hung up.

I have answered a few of those calls and pressed the key to be put on the do not call list. I also blocked the caller but as far as I know they haven't called back.
