Does anyone still use one of these?

My husband is always complaining about having an itchy back, due to dry skin that comes with age,I suppose. He is forever rubbing his back on the side of the door frame. Reminds me of a bear. My son made this one in his cabinetry shop for his Dad.. Although back scratchers have been around for years he decided to make a curved one out of wood. The shape of it is so much easier to use than the straight ones. I've been known to use it myself now and then. Do any of you still use one?back scratcher (800x449).jpgback scratcher 2.jpg

I never had a back scratcher Ruth, although there were plenty of times I could have used one. That one looks like it would be very easy to use. I kind of remember my father having a plastic one, shaped like a hand.

We had several in the house when I was growing, up all made of plastic and shaped like a hand with fingernails like Seabreeze mentions. They worked great.

I have two that I got at the dollar store. The are made out of bamboo and one has a claw and the other little rollers. Aaaa, feels so good...

We've got three of the bamboo & claw ones in the house that get used now and then........most of the time I'll just back up to a door frame and rub back and forth to scratch my back.

If I get an itch, I generally use the first thing that comes to hand, that will reach! Usually a ruler or a knitting needle. We do have one somewhere. But you can never find it when you need it!

I have one in my room..Got it as a gift from a grandchild..Their parents let them shop for things with their own money..001.gif

When outside, I like to rub up against the brick corners!!

I really like those! I used to have one and don't know what happened to it. It must have gotten lost when I moved. If I have a really bad unreachable back itch now I get my bath brush and scratch it.

I gave my late husband one for his 50th birthday. It was a hand with red painted fingernails. It said " 50and itching to be 18 again". I am still using it.

I like the style of the curved one in the photo! Perhaps he should start a second business and sell them on Etsy or eBay!

My husband has a wooden back scratcher with a curved end - he is constantly mis-placing it but it gets used a lot. I too, usually use a knitting needle or ruler. Either way, as an old fashioned simple tool, they are still useful today!

I've got a back scratcher from CVS. It extends and has a metal claw cat paw on the end. You scratch any human or critter with it and they'll follow you anywhere;)
