When you are on the phone, do strangers ever think you are a woman, if you are a man?Or perhaps a
man if you are a woman? If you have a voice in between, that is possible to happen.

My voice has changed in recent years...now I have a higher voice and I hate being called mam
or something, It's embarrassing.

My doctor said that voices naturally change over time.

Well, no use getting too annoyed about being mistaken for the wrong sex. It could be worse, it could happen to you in person like it happens to some people I know. I have never understood why it is so important for someone to know whether someone else is male or female. And our language gives us no alternatives when that is in doubt.

I've never had that happen but after speaking to someone for awhile most people know I'm from New Jersey. My son in law says I have a terrible Jersey accent. I guess it's true.

No, but they sometimes ask to speak to my mom or dad so I tell them what year my parents died it and that shuts them up. 1972 and 1987

Nope!

This thread made me think back to when I was a kid and it shocked me when my mother got on the phone for a business type call and her mom voice transformed into the sound of a highly sophisticated executive, LOL!!!
