I had to do that w/our dobie, but our pool wasn't frozen. She fell in trying to retrieve her tennis ball.
She kept trying to get out but her nails were sliding off the rocks, positioned around the pool.
Husband was standing there drinking a beer.....I saw her from inside, ran out and jumped in and brought her over to the steps.
She was ok...I yelled at the husband a little.
