Bioluminescence is the ability of living organisms to produce and emit neon-like light by means of chemical reactions happening inside their bodies. Some aquatic creatures as well as fungi and bacteria are capable of this, with many using it as a communicative, attractive, or defensive mechanism—and the visuals are absolutely stunning.

That is good footage.

One of the ships I served on was a slow moving research ship that typically steamed between 6 and 8 knots. When we were in parts of the tropics you would sometimes see dolphins near the bow of the ship causing this visual effect at night. They were beautiful, but this footage is actually better than any that I ever saw in person.
