These operate under different names in different towns/communities.

I joined a local one on Facebook, not to get but to give. If something has several responses, you then do a random draw.

Does anyone else make use of a site like this?
 

I’ve given things away on the Nextdoor app and the FB Marketplace.

Air conditioners
Dining room set
Cherry chest of drawers

I feel bad when people try to use these apps to get rid of junk.

I also feel bad when people only take things to resell and not for personal use.

I suppose that those things are to be expected.

They have been a help to me and hopefully a help to the people that took the things.

No, these are strictly about giving away. Sometimes people post an item to donate, other times it is a request and they explain their need.

I donate lots of good things to charity stores realizing that the person buying may have no financial issues.
 
Yes we have freecycle, and Nextdoor app as well..... people get so greedy..

One guy who lives locally advertises himself as a painter /decorator.. handyman... yet he tries to blagg everything for free..

Anyone got a fridge freezer..his is broken,.. what about a double bed, anyone got a 50 inch tv because his is broken, right down to tables, chairs, sheets, pots and pans .. everything and anything.. , the last straw for me was today when I saw him asking for Paint.. ( anyone got 2.5 litre cans of unused white Paint''?) ..what?... you're actually asking people to give you the tools of your trade for free..

So many people on these apps, beg for stuff, and then sell it almost immediately on FB marketplace

There is never a shortage of people who will take advantage of others' good will and good hearts.
 
I literally have tons of good, usable 'stuff' that I would just as soon give away, rather than go to the trouble of trying to sell.
I should put the stuff on display on Facebook, except that I don't want strangers coming to my house, as wannabe burglars use the opportunity to "case the place".

why not take it to the local mission or thrift shop?
