Don't Push Buttons

Not a post about annoying people. Today I saw a new pedestrian sign on every traffic light: "Do Not Push Button To Cross. Wait For the Next "Walk" Signal."

Really stupid. Don't touch buttons, but it's OK to touch everything you're buying in the market.

Reminds me of a sign in a library at an elementary school,
or Junior High, I cant remember which:

"Do not yell or shout, or use loud voices, in the library."

What effect do you think it had?

Don't Touch Anything
Don't touch buttons
Don't touch switches
Don't touch computer keyboards
Don't touch phones
Don't touch your friends
Don't touch your wives & husbands
Don't even touch yourself
If I missed anything, just don't touch it.

Hate to break this to readers but those buttons in most cases are not even wired. It was decided they posed a threat to the flow of traffic. I laugh every time I see people standing on the corner pushing those buttons.
