Don't you just hate that? Other people's cigarette smoke

Both of my parents smoked. I grew up HATING the smell of smoke. As a kid it was especially bad when we traveled in the car. We lived in a cold climate, so the windows in the car were always closed. My parents lit up, as soon as we got in the car, I guess they thought that old buggy would not start unless they were 'lit up' so off we went with the two kids in the back seat gasping for fresh air.

My mom quit when she was 55 and she lived a healthy life until she passed at 82. My dad never quit, and he died of heart disease at 65. My older sister (by 4 years) also started smoking around 16 years old. She never quit, and she passed back in 2015, she was 69 years old. I am now 74, I did smoke a pipe for around 10 years in my late 20's, but nothing more. My wife has never smoked! If you smoke, you are likely losing your health and will eventually die prematurely.

They still allow smoking in some parts of the casinos which I was surprised to find out. I don't see many people smoking outside anymore, now that I think of it. I did pass a man last week though. Another thing about smokers...they litter. They'll throw their cigarette butts down anywhere. I hate seeing people litter.
Yes, butts everywhere and I guess they don't consider it littering. I once had someone throw a butt out of their car window and it went into the back seat of my car. I had to find a place to pull over and get it out before it caught my seat on fire. I went to a casino for the first time in Syracuse a couple of years ago. We found a parking spot and walked to the front door.........as soon as I entered the building I could not go any further. All I smelled was smoke.

When my dad got home from WWII he married my mom. She was not a smoker. Within a few months he got her to smoke. My mom told me this story after my dad died at the age of 69.

She quit smoking at 55 and lived to be 82. I smoked a pipe briefly when I was very young, I quit and never touched any other form of tobacco...

I cannot abide the smell of weed... it's got to be the most repulsive smell over and above cigarettes and tobacco... It's horrible standing in a checkout queue.. and the respectable looking person standing next to you.. Stinks of weed.. their hair stinks..their clothes are disgusting .. their houses and furniture must absolutely reek... *ugh*...
That just happened the other day when I walking down the aisle in a store. I went to the next aisle to get away & before I knew it I smelled them coming up behind me.

What I think is bad is when you see little kids with these people who smell of weed. I feel bad for them because they aren't given a choice to be around it.

It doesn't bother me if people smoke. I don't hate the smell of tobacco or weed. In fact I like the smell of pipe tobacco very much. Several of my neighbors smoke. It doesn't make me angry in any way.
:)
Chic, one thing to think about, smokers are destroying their health. Accordingly, in time they will become a burden on their families. This process, when happening in mass, draws upon our health resources driving up costs for everyone, not to mention what it does to their families.

It all becomes a cost to us all as our costs increase due to the poor health of many in our society. You can say the same for fat people, diabetes, etc. that don't manage their disease, etc. They all feel these choices only harm them, but in fact it is a draw on our whole society.

Perfume/fragrance problems here. I start sneezing, nose runs and my head stops up and hurts. Can't tell you how many times I have had to go outside or leave a place because of that. My husband cries literal tears if he walks down a candle or washing detergent aisle. LOL
I know the feeling! I cannot walk through the rug department of Lowes. I was afraid I would not make it out the door so someone had to help me out. Do you ever have your tongue become numb after certain fragrances or odors?

I totally understand both of those. Also, some areas in the junk food aisle have strong odours; artificial popcorn is one of the bad ones.

You smelled fragrance in Lowe's rug department?!
Not fragrance but the smell of the rugs. Haven't you ever smelled a new rug or a new car? It smells like toxic chemicals to me.
I don't remember smelling a new rug and I've gotten a couple in my day. I hear about the new car smell but don't remember experiencing it when I got my only new car...a1994Toyota Camry. Maybe my nose is just not sensitive to those smells.

I’ve worked summer jobs where lots of people smoked. When I began my career, people were allowed to smoke at their desks! I’ve had lots of exposure to second-hand smoke, which is possibly why COPD treatment may be necessary for me in the future. I’ve had more than one restaurant meal spoiled for me in decades past by smokers who just had to light one up after a meal. I’ve been on a bus trip ruined by two smoking couples who puffed away despite a ā€œno smokingā€ sign posted in the bus…and the driver did nothing!

Remember those ā€œblow some my wayā€ cigarette commercials? Please keep those fumes away from me! 😾 🚬

Maybe not. I wish I wasn't. I belong to a group on FB and most of the people are a lot worse off than me. They can't live normal lives.
