Drop Vitamin D

It concluded that vitamin D supplements do not have any meaningful benefits when it comes to reducing the risk of total fractures or improving bone density.

Recent studies.

I just bought some D3
I'll take it anyway.
It's been so cloudy and rainy here, not getting any sun.

I take 2000 units daily as my Renal Specialist wants me too. He says I need it as I have kidney damage from a massive stroke 20 years ago. I did not take it until my lab work indicated a very low level. So for the past 5 years I have taken it and so far my kidney function has stayed steady. I doubt its the main reason but it does help my condition. I had my yearly appointment last week and was thankful for a good report. I will never be 100 % but I can try to keep what I have and avoid further damage.

I don't have to do what my doctors tell me to do, I do my own research and living in So. Calif and NOT being the sun a lot as I've gotten older, skin cancer fears, I found to be very deficient in 2006 and bordering on a depression.

My sister who is no longer with us due to losing the battle to MS, brought this to my attention. Many with MS are very deficient.

Maybe OP wants to post the information mentioned about how it does nothing for bone health.

Some days I take 5 to 10K D3 and when I have it K2 for best absorption.

Nobody has to do what their doctor says but after surviving a massive stroke, I researched everything about the damage that was done to my kidneys, brain, limbs and general health. My neurologist and pcp agreed with the Renal Specialist to take the vitamin D as well as BP meds to avoid another aneurysm attack that this time would finish me off. The neurologist explained that when you are 50 and have a brain aneurysm rupture, they will put you in a drug induced coma with hopes you can recover but will not at my age now of 71. I understand this and try to take care of myself as well as I can to avoid more problems.

Well, of course, yours is another issue. I have a friend who taught me so much after alternative healing and she found herself with afib a couple yrs ago and now she's taking 5 heart meds from MD's...she's not happy camper...my thoughts and we've talked about this is that she was NOT adequate and smart about taking ENOUGH magnesium for the cardio system. She takes a lot more now but also the 5 heart meds...Magnesium is a huge deficiency issue in our health arena.

I don't take calcium tabs but count on my greens for calcium, and some hard cheese and yogurt, but take 2 times more magnesium and have been for many years. A lot of calcium ends up in the bloodstream and doesn't even get to the bones and often ends up as deposits in other organs. A friend who was told by her great doc, pun, to take Tums that it was fine for calcium ended up with calcium deposits on her thyroid and then then had a good portion of thyroid removed. Docs know so so so little about this part of our health.

Their main place is the distribution of drugs for drug industries.
