ECHO test... Will I be able to...

Mike just saw this thread today. I was told I had COPD about 20 years ago. Stopped smoking back then. I was prescribed a number of medications plus 2 types of inhalers. After about 5 years, the Respirologist discontinued the puffers, saying "your lung functions are as good as you can get them". I still carry a rescue puffer with me, but I have not used it in more than 2 years now. My secret was losing about 80 pounds of body weight over a year long period of time. I went from 280 to 190 pounds. I had to buy a whole new set of clothes, and even my shoe size got smaller.

JIM.

@jimintoronto, Congrats, YOU did well in the weight...I have about 20 pounds to lose, but the last few months when I didn't know what was going on, till I had the tests, I was told to do nothing... So think I gained a few pounds there... I didn't gain anything when I quit smoking... Surprised about even going down a size in your shoes...

My weight was a combination of a sedentary life style ( long distance driver ) and poor eating habits as a middle aged single man. Those cheap smokes and booze at the duty free store every time I crossed the border were a contributing factor. Part of my weight loss was tied to being in hospital for about 11 weeks, due to a number of injuries and medical problems. Being in bed all day, and only eating a limited diabetic diet helped. JIM.

Yes, a diabetic diet helps a lot, we eat 100 times better than we did before I was diagnosed with diabetes, which was caused by the narcs they put me on to help with the pain from the car accident... and we cut out gluten, which helped 100 percent... We have a hamburger at A&W or Harveys now and then, but have it wrapped in lettuce rather than a bun...

I support A&W in Canada because they are a 100 percent Canadian company. In 1970 the Canadian franchise owners and some of their employees bought the name from the US parent company. Same thing for Harvey's which is a part of the company that owns Swiss Chalet. The swing now is to buy as much Canadian as possible in all products we buy. JIM.
