Early spring storm threatens central U.S. with blizzard conditions

A winter storm is expected to produce "very heavy snow accumulations" and blizzard conditions across the Plains and the Midwest region starting Tuesday and stretching into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Approximately 10 million people are under winter alerts, including blizzard warnings, and approximately 26 million people are under alert for high winds, which are expected to tear through Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota and Nebraska on Wednesday.

In cities like Denver, Minneapolis and Chicago, summer temperatures on Tuesday would be followed by massive drops on Wednesday of 30 degrees or more. In Denver, 80 degree weather on Tuesday was forecast to be followed by 44 degree weather on Wednesday.

Crazy weather. Today here it is approaching 80 degrees. I sure hope the 30 and 40 degree weather for this year is long gone for here. May all those people stay safe.

Wonder if its gonna reach the eastcoast.....wouldn't surprise me getting snow in April....seen it before....

This was the first Spring (in April) we lived in Colorado, 18 miles south of Denver. There is a line of cars under all of that snow. It took a Front Loader and multiple dump trucks to get most of the snow out. It was a blizzard, but, like people here in Florida after a hurricane or tropical storm, they stayed.

This storm is supposed to miss us, but the extra snow it will dump in the Northern States will only add to the flooding concerns along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, in coming days/weeks.

High winds, rained all night last night, snowed in the early morning hours, followed by more rain. Was 75 degrees then 40 degrees, 47 degrees now and still raining, and cold. But Grace, my lab mix, insist on being outside. Luckily she sit in her dog house.

My daughter is driving through New Mexico and there are very high winds there.

Light wet snow and winds here in Co., started out with just rain. Temp now is 36 degrees, so not too cold. They predicted a blizzard of 5-10 inches, but it seems to have petered out so far, unless it picks up tonight.

Yeah. I'm in Chicago area. It snowed, but didn't stick. But we went from high 60's to freezing in half a day. I just got done raking the leaves out the flower beds. Should have left the leaves another few days.

We had our first 90 this week here in Houston. Already using the a/c and dreading the bill. Trying to use the ceiling fans as much as possible. Wish we could have a really good rain and get rid of this pollen. Here in Clear Lake we are just getting a few sprinkles that makes things worse. Weatherman is now saying rain for the weekend which means sprinkles again for us. I am thankful we have not had a Harvey but could we please get a good rain for 15 minutes at least? Guess we are not living right!
