This has nothing to do with his political affiliation. If anyone comments on this thread, please do not mention anything political because his indictment was not based on his political positions, even though he may have used his powers to gain compensations.

Adams was indicted on 5 federal corruption charges stemming from his ties to Turkey. He also has 1 pending lawsuit regarding sexual abuse with a women while he was a transit cop in 1993. Among the charges that led to the indictment are: bribery, conspiracy and illegal campaign donations.

Several people, including public officials and residents have requested that he resigns immediately. He has pled not guilty and has said he will fight the charges and has stated he will not resign and requested an immediate trial. The Governor has also requested Mayor Adams to resign. The Governor does have the power to remove him from office. The Governor has not replied to the news media whether she is considering the removal of the Mayor or not, but is keeping an open mind to his removal, solely based on the charges in the indictment.

It’s been my professional experience that when the Feds go after a person or persons, they aren’t “hoping” for a conviction. If the Feds come calling, it’s because they have enough evidence that they feel confident of a conviction.

Mayor Adams has had a successful career as an NYPD officer and also a successful career in politics. The residents of New York City will not be saddled paying the Mayor’s legal fees to defend himself against the Federal charges.

How this will end is anyone’s guess, but I will be watching to see if he resigns or is removed from Office.

Yes, big news here, the biggest; only preempted by Israel/Hezbollah. I like Mayor Adams. I feel he is guilty, though. Funny how very little money it takes to buy some politicians though. Even poor me wouldn't settle for under $200K like he did. Measly.

He always seemed shady to me. I’m not surprised. New York needs a strong leader- and it’s hard to find an honest person in politics these days.

People involved in the scandal all of the sudden got married today. For spouse privilege not to testify against the other?

That reminds of the “rumor” that Steve Harvey” deleted all of his tweets and left the country on the day Sean Combs was arrested. The FBI has been unable to locate him. These are only “rumors.”
I know Mr. Harvey and I will be surprised if he is involved in any way with Combs.

Well, I saw this one coming. When his police commissioner and other members of his administration were investigated, I knew it would be just a matter of time.
@Knight The mayor did say he thought this was retaliation for his complaints about the migrant situation.
@Pepper I've wondered what NYC residents thought of him. I agree with you. I saw where somebody got in trouble over a $63,000 bribe! That's chump change IMO. People in my town have gotten into trouble over $5,000 - $10,000. That's just crazy!

I agree with OED. I remember a few years back when some of his staff was being questioned and rumors were floating around that it won’t be long until the hammer drops. I would have thought with him knowing members of his staff were being questioned the Feds weren’t asking them about the weather.

Talking to a few of the attorneys I worked with tell me they have plenty of evidence and more coming in. It’s possible the reason Mayor Adams doesn’t resign is that people will take it as a sign of guilt. The few times that I spoke with him not long after he became Mayor, he came off like he was a narcissist. People with that type of personality doesn’t give up easily. They are mostly Sociopaths.

Same for Sean Combs. People, including several women have come forward with accusations of sexual abuse, physical abuse, prostitution, harassment, and several other charges. If found guilty of the charges he is facing, he may go away for a long, long time. Federal sex trafficking alone carries 10-20 years for each count.

It’s not looking good for either one.

NYT - 9/30/24

"Mr. Adams hired Mr. Pearson in 2022 as a senior adviser with a $243,000 salary, even though Mr. Pearson was at the time also working a job at a Queens casino as its vice president for public safety. In that position, he was earning between $250,000 and $500,000 a year, city records show.

State law precludes officials employed by conventional city agencies from simultaneously collecting city pensions. But Mr. Adams put Mr. Pearson on the payroll of a city-run nonprofit, the Economic Development Corporation, which allowed him to also keep the $124,000 Police Department pension he was collecting.

At the time of his hiring, Mr. Pearson’s other employer, Resorts World New York City, was seeking support from New York City for a bid to expand its casino operations in Queens, an apparent conflict of interest that City Hall sought to dispel by saying that Mr. Pearson’s responsibilities did not touch on casinos."adams2.jpg\
