Everybody Gets Horse Crazy Around Here in the Summer

The races are on at Saratoga. Even the local news devotes 10 minutes of every half hour to do a segment of some horses, trainers, breeders, jockeys or even grooms. The slogan around here is "Saratoga, the place to be." My slogan is, "Saratoga, a good place to stay away from until after Labor Day." That's when the flat track closes and the "horsey set", as my mom referred to them, leave.

The horsey set is what they get called here. Obviously they must be a bit different from us normal folk.

Had a friend who kept horses for his girls. Always called em "hay burners".

Horse crazy is the BEST crazy to be. I have been all my life.

Oh, summer in Saratoga! Along with the races, NYC ballet has their Summer season at SPAC (open-air performing arts venue) in July! Saw some *great* dancing back in the day. The wooded parks are lovely (though I never could get my head around Vichy water ). Strolling at Yaddo or on the Main Street, enjoying the eclectic shops. (Last time I visited was mid 90’s so I’m sure lots has changed)

Well, the Woolworth's on Broadway where my mom and I used to shop when we were in town has beenreplaced by a strip mall.
