Excuse me but what is a blog

Some people write blogs for fun to share in hobbies and whatnot. Some use them as an online diary of sorts. Some use them to make money. I had one online but I prefer to write in my journal which is just a notebook here in the house.

I keep a daily blog. It’s fun to read back through it on rainy days.

I knew a fellow that after he was married, him and his wife toured the world. After each trip, they posted pictures, descriptions and opinions on the blog. It started out small and grew into a very large blog. I lost the website or I would share it. Sometimes things get misplaced when we move. Right now, I can’t even think of his name.

You know I sometimes go back and read my journals to see how I've changed over time. I spent a lot of my life very angry and anxious and hurting. That seems to have passed. I was quite the rager for a long time due to stress that I no longer have to deal with. My journal was the only release I had. Now I don't write in it too often anymore.

Blogs became popular around 30 years ago when people discovered that they could write down their thoughts and feelings to a world wide audience. Companies such as Microsoft, WordPress and later Google had hosting sites for those who wished to blog. I even had one a couple of decades ago. There were also well known writers who started to blog and attract a huge following. For the first time columnist of local papers could attract a much larger audience by having a blog. Technically, those here on this site who have a personal diary set up are blogging.

Traffic for blogging websites starting to decline with the rising popularity of YouTube but there are sites such as Substack that hosts popular columnists and writers who blog about all different types of topics . Many are behind a paywall though.

I have journals from the time I was 16. Unbelievable, I know. I used the same type book for all my journals. I use Steno books. They are all about the same size. The line down the middle diesn’t bother me.

I read one just the other day when it was raining. It reminded me of the light-skinned African-American girl I dated for a few months out in San Diego. She had the most beautiful eyes I had and have ever seen. That’s what attracted me to her. She was very nice, kind and enjoyed some of the things I liked to do. Her mom really liked me, especially in uniform. Her dad, however, was the opposite. She wouldn’t tell me what his problem was with me. She was 24 and I was 27, so maybe it was the age, but doubtful. I miss her.

WordPress is still one of the easier sites to use. They help the blogger to get setup and after that all the blogger pays is for the hosting.
