Fake meat now fake seafood is rising in numbers. There are several companies starting this and one has a tunato product fabricated from specialty tomato product in southern Spain. It resembles sliced sushi grade tuna. The company is Mimic. Tyson Foods bought a stake in New Wave Foods a maker of plant based shrimp. OMG Meat makes things like crab cakes and fish burgers booth plant based. The Swedish retailer Ikea sells vegan caviar. Nestle makes non fish tuna available in parts of Europe. A company called Thai Union makes a faux tuna made from soy, wheat and pea protein. Odontella and Omni Foods are two other companies involved in there food types. Makes one wonder what we be eating twenty years from now.

I'm waiting for them to come up with a zero carb, zero-calorie line of snack foods that mimic chips, candy, cookies, nuts, etc...

Something similar to packing peanuts for people. ;)

If I could find something that tasted like shrimp among those products, I'd buy it. I love shrimp but stopped eating it when I read that most of what we eat here is not fit for consumption because of how the shrimp are raised and where they usually come from. I really miss having shrimp but it's hard to know where the shrimp comes from when we are eating at restaurants.
